Meadow Building, flanking Christ Church Meadow
The Meadow Building was built in 1863, Venetian style.
Took some shots from archways & windows.
Found some interesting memorial plagues on the way to the cloister: 'the dead speaks'.
Fred at the cloister... on the right is the olive tree & the left (partly blocked by Fred) is the fountain.
I found the 'tree' growing on the wall of the building (see below, right) extremely interesting. Quite a sight!

John Wesley, founder of the Methodist Church, was educated at Christ Church.
Charles Dodgson, pen name Lewis Carroll, author of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking Glass, was a Mathematics tutor at Christ Church from 1855-98. He befriended the daughters of the Dean of Christ Church, especially Alice. Many of the characters in the books were inspired by Christ Church people & objects. How interesting!

The Dining Hall's stained glass windows
We left the Dining Hall & headed out to the vast Tom Quadrangle. Tom Tower stood at the background.
The Shrine is the oldest monument in the cathedral... once held the relics of St Frideswide, the patron saint of Oxford. OK, he has been buried beneath a nearby gravestone.
Window art depicting a ship of souls carrying St Frideswide to heaven
The earthly story of this eighth century local saint was told in brightly coloured window panels.
