I have wanted to make a trip down to AFC Studio since it opened at Orchard Central. This Christmas season, I managed to steal some time to do just that! Oh, imagine my childish excitement at the display of cookware, kitchen stuff, cookbooks etc.
Check out the creation of the pastry chefs: the lovely Christmas chocolate houses. Wish I could eat them all!
Big thanks to hubby who painstakingly took pictures for me. Love his thoughtfulness with the details!
And you guessed it, I couldn't have left without buying a cookbook for myself. Do I need more cookbooks? No. Do I want more cookbooks? Yes! Hahaha. Here's my 'loot'.
Since cookbooks are usually costly, I prudently went for what I think is a good, basic, practical one. Similar to the art of cooking: when you have mastered the basics, you can really experiment with variety. There's just no end to your creativity: that's why it's fun! I tried 2 fuss-free recipes from the book: (1) Grilled Chicken with Lemons & Herbs
And oh, I love this - (2) Sauteed Bananas (a winner cos it's extremely easy to make!)
(3) Poached Fish Steak with Vegetables (gotta try it with Halibut some day)
Bon Appetit!
Oh, before the curtains are drawn on this post, check out links to this lovely website Bearylicious Cakes by a pastry chef & for the festive season, the Christmas Chocolate House & Snowflake Blue Christmas Cake.
