Once in a while, when the weather is fair & by that, I do mean 'cool', it is actually quite fun to venture out to signature 'ethnicentric' spots in Singapore like 'Little India' & shop at 'pasat' where specialty products are sold, e.g. Beach Road 'Army' Market. They are a different world altogether, from the rest of this tiny modern island. A microcosm, almost a forgotten gem, within the larger community.
Below is a photo journal of our adventures in Little India & nearby Beach Road Market, not too long ago.
A vital good start to the morning: Roti Prata at Tekka Market. I sit & wait. Hubby queue up. Heh!
Throw caution to the wind! Go for this 'Kambing Soup Power!' We marvelled at the amount of oil floating in this bowl & observed the huge chunks of succulent kambing before surrendering to their beckoning. Eat like the Romans when in Rome. Ah!
Hubby bargain-hunting at 'Army' market. I trodded along in my slippers curiously & occasionally, joined in the bargain: Uncle, cheaper can?? Aunty, this one made in where??
Pit-stop at hawker centre below the shops: the healthiest Char Kway Teow in Singapore! Ok, this time I queue up cos I wan take picture. Heh!
Back home to southwest singapore. On route, MBS (Marina Bay Sands). Bye bye, hidden gems.
