Our first reunion dinner to welcome the year of the Ox was an exception. Fred and I committed ourselves to preparing dinner and invited his parents over to our place instead. Since there were only 4 of us, we settled for a simple dinner. But what we definitely couldn't give a miss on the menu was fresh fish! If Fred could catch it himself, I know he would. (Yes, he is that adamant about a fresh catch!) Nevertheless, since we were not going to risk the odds of not having any fish, we were considerably satisfied with watching one come straight out of an aquarium at a supermart. Maybe it was the celebration mood, maybe it was a self-serving bias because we painstakingly singled that fish out & cooked it to perfection - the fish meat had an extraordinary bite that evening. We loved it! As I recall now, I can still taste it in my mouth. We are definitely more motivated to cook for future reunion dinners ;)
Doesn't the fish look fresh? Like it was still swimming.
My mum-in-law's favourite - a vegetable dish.
My all-time favourite - sesame oil chicken.
